Muhammad Akram Khan Durrani
Thanks to All-Mighty Allah who had been so benevolent and so gracious to have givenme
the vigour, the strength, and the resolve, to be of some service to my countrymen
ingeneral and to the people of southern districts and the adjoining tribal areas,
in particular. It’s all because of His unlimited bounties that today,
we have a University of Science& Technology at Bannu.
|
Nothing could be more satisfying to me than the establishment of this University.
Having said that,
I feel that I owe you something: why did we strive to have this University? Reasons:
Bridging the Educational Gap
UST Bannu shall take a pioneering role in filling the educational gap, created because of the neglect
of the last several decades, so as to provide higher education opportunities for the young generations
of southern areas.
Producing Educated Human Resource
The University shall give students an opportunity of higher education and specialization in various
spheres of sciences and technology in response to the desperate needs of the country for educated
human resources.
Developing Scientific Knowledge
UST Bannu shall develop indigenous scientific knowledge through encouraging focused research,
especially in information technology and the biotechnology, the results of which shall
contribute in solving problems of the humanity in general and under-privileged south in particular.
Conducting Community Education Programmes
This University shall contribute to the development of the society and encourage community
participation in dealing with its colossal predicaments through various training workshops,
seminars, symposiums, conferences and short courses of the continuous education programmes.
Equipping Students With Better Skills
The University shall mold a balanced personality of the students with better and practical skills
with special emphasis on strengthening their abilities in analytical reasoning and thinking.
Preserving National Cultural Heritage
UST Bannu shall contribute in preserving the cultural heritage of Southern Areas and to raise that
awareness in the students through adopting appropriate curriculum and carrying out creative
cultural programmes and activities.
We believe that the Government of NWFP is your partner in your learning process. In that regard,
you are not an object but a subject. The responsibility for your learning process rests as
heavily on our shoulders as on your shoulders. It should also be our philosophy that
the educational and cultural programmes at US&T, Bannu, are designed to provide you
with an experience that will inspire your intellectual and personal growth. This would be done
through the use of a combination of theoretical and practical knowledge. This balance, we hope,
will develop the common sense that you will later need as managers/administrators.
I thank you for your interest in UST Bannu and do hope that you will be successful in making
the right choice among the university programmes. If I could be of any assistance, please do not
hesitate to say so.
May God bless you. Ameen.
