The Department started BSc Electrical Engineering Program in 2011 under the Institute of Engineering & Computing Sciences. In April 2015 the Institute of Engineering & Computing Sciences is decomposed and create separate Faculty for Engineering disciplines i-e ‘’ Faculty of Engineering’’. Faculty of Engineering comprises Department of Software Engineering and Department of Electrical Engineering.
The Department of Electrical Engineering is one of the largest departments within the University with a thriving undergraduate student population of over 300 including male and female students. The syllabus is continually under development and review, in line with the requirements of various regulatory authorities like Higher Education Commission (HEC) and Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) that accredit our programs and the latest technological needs of industry.
Electrical Engineering is still considered to be the parent and one of the oldest disciplines of Engineering. Initially it was confined to few areas such as Power and Communication. Currently Department of Electrical Engineering offering BSc Electrical Engineering degree with Stream in Telecommunication. And this program is one of the most popular program now a days, with the advancement in Cellular Mobile Communication and rapid growth in Wireless Communication, ICT and Telecommunication Sector, a new industrial base has sprung up which requires Engineers with more specialized skills in this Area.
However, in the last half of the century it has seen tremendous growth and expansion. The diversification and expansion in some areas of Electrical Engineering has been of such a large magnitude that they seem to be in Telecommunication, Electronics, Power and Computer.
The Department have own state of art laboratories such as Electrical Engineering Foundation and Basic & Advance areas of Telecommunication containing Electronics, Electricity, Electrical Machine, Analog & Digital Communications, Antennas, Optical Fiber, Microwave and Computers etc.
We are proudly to announced that the Department of
Software and Electrical (Telecommunication) Engineering has been accredited with Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) to see the Accreditation link with PEC

The goal of the Electrical Engineering (Telecommunication) undergraduate program should be to prepare the students for entry-level positions as Electrical Engineers/Telecommunication Engineers for the broad range of opportunities available in industrial, commercial, and governmental organizations; and also to prepare them for life-long learning experiences either through a formal graduate program or through continuing education facilities.
The objectives of the undergraduate program in Electrical Engineering (Telecommunication) should be to equip the students with:
- o Sound engineering knowledge.
- o Effective communication skills.
- o High moral values and good engineering ethics.
- o Good analytical skills and systematic program solving capabilities.
- o Inquisitive mind to undertake research for solving engineering problems.
- o Scientific skills to manage the human and technological resources optimally.
- o Effective leadership and decision-making skills
