Prof. Dr. Asmatullah Khan
In the UST Bannu, we stand on our own ground. We are different – for we do not follow any
model blindly. We are pragmatists and yet we never shy from taking calculated risks in
planning our future.
|
We are a higher education institution in various disciplines of science and technologies, business and management sciences.
We combine the best of public interest and the spirit of a state university of the 21st century which has the
potential dynamism of a private enterprise. Our over-arching aim is to build the UST Bannu not just a seat
of teaching excellence but to turn it into a powerhouse of knowledge creation and research development.
Its goal in learning, teaching, research, placement, is to focus on the development of foreign linkages extending
the frontiers of the University into public private partnership and also establishment of various
departments/centers of excellence in the campus will help create conditions for achieving academic
excellence and contribute to the social uplift, economic regeneration and prosperity of the N-W.F.P.
in particular and the country in general. Our close association with the HEC, the University of Peshawar,
the Gomal University D. I. Khan, Kohat University of Science & Technology, Kohat and potential of foreign
and local donors/ NGOs and philanthropists will provide a strong impetus to our programmes of study at
all levels.
The youth of today are far more enlightened and pragmatic. They are keen to learn and work in
conducive environments. The University will emerge as a leading school of learning for maintaining
highest academic standards and discipline, our rigorous selection criteria that is based purely on
merit and transparent processes. The University has a highly qualified faculty and operates under
an excellent academic environment, with uninterrupted schedules, strictly followed by the students
and faculty. Our systems of classroom instruction are highly participative in all respects.
The examination system is based on continuous evaluation of students that enables students
work throughout the study period specified in the programmes.
Investment in facilities, including the Rupees one thousand million in campus construction will
enhance the learning and working environment. Significant work has been undertaken in addressing
issues of importance to both students and staff for a better future.
Our commitment to our students is apparent in the new guidelines.
These aim to enhance and enrich the experience of the students while studying
at the UST Bannu. The most striking development, however, has been the launching
of a new vision for Further and Higher Education; "UST Bannu Perspective Plan".
Despite several constraints and limitations, the University is strictly adhering to the
excellent academic standards and we do hope that our students will get jobs soon after finishing their studies.
The University is paving towards a substantial and important progress and will continue
to do so through the energy and commitment of its staff.
