International Conference on “Rare Genetic Diseases and Genomics: Global Impact and Future Perspectives on Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Tribal Populations

The University of Science and Technology Bannu (USTB), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, successfully organized and concluded the International Conference on “Rare Genetic Diseases and Genomics: Global Impact and Future Perspectives on Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Tribal Populations.”
The conference was attended by national and international experts, scholars, and researchers who shared their knowledge and research findings on rare genetic disorders, genomics, and their implications for regional and global public health.
Addressing the participants and guest speakers, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Jehanzaib Khan emphasized the importance of research on rare genetic diseases and its significance for the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the tribal districts. He appreciated the efforts of the organizers and reaffirmed the university’s commitment to continuing the tradition of hosting international conferences, workshops, and training programs to help students and faculty keep pace with global research standards and modern scientific technologies.
The conference was held under the supervision of Dr. Hidayat Ullah Khan, Director ORIC, UST Bannu.
A total of five international and four national speakers presented their research on rare genetic diseases and genomics.
The international speakers included: Prof. Dr. Mikhail Bulykov (Medical University, Russia), Prof. Dr. Kenan, Dr. Zainab Bouchelhara (University of URL, Moscow, Russia), Dr. Muhammad Umair (USA), and Dr. Khyber (Brazil).
The national speakers included: Prof. Dr. Musharraf Jelani and Dr. Yousaf (Khyber Medical University, Peshawar).
Additionally, two MPhil scholars from the Department of Chemistry, UST Bannu, also presented their research work on rare genetic diseases.
The successful conclusion of this conference reflects the growing role of UST Bannu in promoting scientific collaboration, innovation, and high-quality research in the field of genetics and genomics—particularly in the context of addressing the health challenges faced by the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the tribal population.
